How to Hang Your Canvas
What Hanging Equipment Comes with Aureous Canvases?
Our canvas prints do not include hanging hardware. Each canvas is designed to hang flush against the wall by resting directly on a nail or screw. Adding wire or string can cause the artwork to lean forward, preventing it from sitting neatly against the wall.
Step 1: Choose the Perfect Position
Canvas artwork looks best in a well-lit space where the detail of the print can be appreciated. Avoid placing your canvas directly above radiators, fireplaces, or other heat sources, as excessive heat may cause the canvas to warp over time.
Step 2: Mark Your Placement
Decide where you'd like your artwork to sit and make a small pencil mark on the wall. For the most balanced appearance, the centre of the artwork should typically sit at eye level, approximately 150–160cm from the floor.
Step 3: Install Your Fixing
For most canvas sizes, a single nail or screw is all that's required. Leave approximately 5mm of the fixing protruding from the wall so the canvas frame can rest securely on it.
For larger or heavier canvases, we recommend using two evenly spaced nails or screws to distribute the weight and prevent the artwork from tilting.
Step 4: Hang and Level
Place the wooden frame on the back of the canvas over the nail or screw and gently lower it into position.
Once hung, use a spirit level to ensure the artwork is perfectly straight. Because canvases have a deep frame profile, even a slight tilt can be noticeable.
Can I Hang a Canvas Without Nails?
Yes. Adhesive picture hooks and Command™ strips can be a great alternative for lighter canvases, particularly in rented properties where wall damage needs to be avoided.
Always check the manufacturer's weight limits before use and ensure the wall surface is suitable for adhesive fixings.
